Emrah Lama

Emrah Lama is an independent filmmaker born and raised in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Germany, as the son of Turkish immigrant workers. Growing up during the raw and chaotic atmosphere of 1980s and 90s Berlin, film became both an escape and a lifelong passion. Raised on videostores, late-night cinema screenings and VHS culture, he developed an early fascination with storytelling, psychological horror and atmospheric filmmaking. As a child, he recreated films with friends, dubbed movies into Turkish and began writing screenplays and shooting homemade short films on VHS. Despite a life shaped by work, family responsibilities and various professional setbacks outside the film industry, Lama continued writing and creating independently for many years. Alongside his younger son, he eventually began producing low-budget short films, handling writing, directing, cinematography, editing, sound and visual effects himself. His work is strongly influenced by slow-burn tension, emotional realism and immersive atmosphere. “AGAIN” marks one of his first officially submitted independent short films.
